Finally released from the project

It has been 3yrs I was working for this project in my company. Wow..I am relaxed and so happy now. It was a web development project we started from scratch and I was the last person from vendor site working for this client project. It was a good learning experience though, as I saw a full product life cycle. Right now I am documenting all my experience and process improvement thoughts so that others can get benefits from this. It was so hectic to work for that project when client has so much expectations because of the revenue generting capability of that site(in terms of millions). So I learnt a lot from this project starting from team management to delivery.

Theme of Amazon.com

I was lucky enough to attain the Microsoft Experiemental Platform, which was hosted by some great people those have worked for Amazon, the world's biggest online shopping center and now part of the world's biggest company i.e. Microsoft. They shared some great ideas about experimenting new ideas to improve the user experience and ultimately the user engagement on a site. You know..the cool thing about the experiment is to do many mistakes in a faster way so that we increase the probability of success. Yeah...its little abstract but if you recall your schooling time, when our teacher used to say us 'Boy, how will you learn if you don't make mistakes'..Yes its the same. Most of the processes/best practices we follow in IT are nothing but the moral our teachers have tought us in school. Time for us to experiemnt the same; it could be the LEAN(Toyota Way) or Experimental Platform in more technical way.

Trip to LA & Mexico

Was a nice vacation and visit to Mexico was nice experience. This time the vacation was so special to me as I was with my college friends Bhabu,Bal & Soumya. I flew to Covina, LA where these friends are staying and had a very good friday night. The same day we celebrate Abhijit's(Bhabu's room mate) BD. Next day early morning we started our trip to Mexico. Stopped at Santa Fe as well as San Diego old town, had delicious sea foods. Then crossed the US border and straight went to hotel. Nightlife in Mexico recalled my LV experience ;)..wow! Then next day we went to a very beautiful beach in Mexico called Calafia Beach. Then again back to San Diego to watch the beautiful San Diego Bay where 'Bay Watch' was made and then back to our bachelor room(Covina). Next day we went to Universal Hollywood. The rides were thrilling specially the The Mummy, Jurassic park and Simpson's. The trip was excellent and that to with my friends. Waiting for more...!!

Book for all who wants to manage a team...

Today I had a big shopping for my trip India. Well all for my families and friends, except one book I bought for myself which is "The Toyora Way". The book is about 'Lean' and 14 management principles introduced by Toyota, the greatest manufacturer of World. This is very much applicable to the IT industry as well; as the main purpose of Lean to eliminate diffects and increase the productivity.

Hopefully I will finish the book during my vacation time..!![:)]

Feel good in sin city

It was my first visit to sin city, i mean Las Vegas. I went with some of my frinds driving all along from Pheonix to Las Vegas, COOL One! Weather was changing drastically from place to place while driving. After reaching there, we drove through the Strip to get a touch of the LV. We stayed there for 3 nights and covered everthing, even the Hoover Dam the "Engineering Marvel". The trip was too good for me and a nice experience[;)].

Visit to Washington University

Today I had a memorable visit to the University of Washington, one of it's best in world. The education in USA is unique where there is no such specific courses of study. Students have their rights to choose their course and the duration. They usually have so many extra curicular activities. The campus is unique of his style, having lots of scope for the students to think inovatively and do something different. I love this place where students have their own choice of what to read and when. Of course the university encoureges the sports a lot..!

Now.. I am missing..

Today I am missing my family a lot. May be because of my long stay in US without any touch except on phone. You know ... I never have thought of this kind of change in my life where I am not able to meet my family because of my job. May be this is the worst part of our IT life. Though I want to forget about all and go back to my family. But as usual it's time and money which showing me such practical scenario. Oh..o ... it's now too much. relief from fustration.

Thank you blogger..:)

Why people don't want to work?

Sometimes I get surprised when I see people don't work, but to talk a lot about their work and life. It's funny....take example of my manager from client side. He never works...but except everything in his life. He is a politician and do play politics to get work done or things get done for his career and salery increment. How stupid ....you deserve something in your life when you work hard....

My trip to Vancouver and Vistoria was excelent one. I found a lot Indians there...may be all are having their own business. The Punjabi market was quite a good place to enjoy indian food. We are there for 3 days and enjoyed a lot in group.

Opportunity comes once in a life time...

"Opportunity comes once in a life time, you need to grab it". I read this on the weighing machine placed on railway platform and did not take it seriously. But I experienced it then I got to know the importnace of it. YES.... I did get a big-big opportunity in my life but could not realize it. Now I am thinking ... about it. :(

Should we follow history....

I could not remember who told me this but I do respect this thought.."Don't follow the foot prints of others, rather make your own so that other can follow you".!! Same is applied to history...read it enjoy it but don't follow it. Have your own thoughts... don't say whether the history is wright or wrong.

3 yrs in a Project...

It has been 3yrs in the project but still working....hmmm. Some says its crazy ...but I still feel as if I am new to the project. Every day I explore some thing new in my project and sometimes I also dig out my past mistakes and put them in a document as the best practises not to follow :).

But the worst part of staying long in a project is you become a teacher for others. People ask you to share the knowledge to each and every people. Now....thats become boaring and I hate that. I like the website for which I work. Its a great challenge to work for such a huge e-commerce site with millions of business and millions of users. Lets see.....how things goes in future.

Trip to New York City....

I went to NYC during '08 new year eve, of-course to see the celebration at Time Square. It was amazing to see half millon people gathered all around the Time square and shouting for last 60sec of 2007. It's hard to believe but it was a real fun to see that. At the same time a huge crystal ball falls gradually from the top of the Time Square. But the worst part of this new year was that 'No bag packs..' were allowed..grrrrr....it was really crazy. I could not make near to time square due to my bag. But I went to Central park...from there I had to watch the ball drop.

About Seattle....

Seattle is been for many years now, one of the nation's (USA) most talked-about and popular cities, and life here recently has undergone dramatic changes. Imagine yourself sitting in a park on the Seattle waterfront, a double-tall latte and an almond croissant close at hand. The snowy peaks of the Olympic Mountains shimmer on the far side of Puget Sound, while the ferryboats come and go across Elliott Bay. It's a summer day, and the sun is shining. (Hey, as long as we're dreaming, why not dream big?) It just doesn't get much better than this, unless, of course, you swap the latte for a microbrew and catch a 9:30pm summer sunset. No wonder people love this town so much.

My first blog...

This is my first blog. Don't know how to start.....well.. lets start with the introduction.

Well I am from BBSR-Orissa but currently staying in Settle-USA. It has been 1yrs I have not been to my home town, ofcourse..missing..a lot. Yes....a lot, my parents, new home, friends and the KHATI. The last word could be little confusing, KHATI ....this is place where we friends get together and have unlimited fun (crazy funs). After getting job, its become hard for us to gather at one place, specially in IT job where we are not sure whether we will be staying in the same place for next month.

Friends....I miss those sweet times. Khati...!!
